Baking with family can be the best experience ever… if you're a kid. But when two grown adults go to the kitchen together, nothing good comes out of it. I really wanted to learn how to bake the perfect apple pie, so I asked her if she wanted my help. She said no, but when I insisted and showed her I really wanted to learn, she had to accept… In the end, she was once in the kitchen with her mother-in-law, right? Well… at first, everything was going fine. She told me her secrets and tips, yet I wasn't really doing anything, just watching. I was about to say something, but I understood it was her moment, too. My mom isn't really a cook, but baking that pie is very therapeutic, and she wanted a bit of peace and quiet. After I realized that, I watched her create that beautiful apple pie, and then we enjoyed it together.

Honestly, I don't think I'll ever learn to bake it the way she does, but there's something so comforting about the smell of my mom's apple pie. It's not just the smell of fall and the start of cold weather; it's the smell of home. And isn't that what fall and winter are all about? The weather is cold, and we have to stay home more often, so having scents that invite you in and make you want to spend more time with your family is great, and they are here for that. So maybe don't bake with your mother because things won't turn out the way you planned; instead, make her some tea while she's preparing the pie, and the moment will still feel just as special.
